FAILING FORWARD: WHAT IF MESSING UP HELPS YOU GROW?
Let's talk about something big: failure.
Yep! that word can feel kind of scary. But guess what? Failing doesn't mean you're done - it might actually mean you're just getting started! We're often told that messing up is bad. So we try to be perfect, or we don't try at all. But the truth is, when we try new things - like speaking up, trying something hard, or learning a new skill - we might get it wrong at first. That's okay!
Growth is messy. But it's also brave.
Failing forward means you keep going, even after something doesn't work out.
You try, even if it's hard.
You learn from what happened.
You make small changes next time.
You don't give up just because it didn't go perfectly.
I once failed a very important and costly exam.
I felt sad, ashamed and disappointed."
But then I asked myself:
What went well?
What could I do differently next time?
I didn't quit.
The next time I took the exam and I passed!!
That "fail" helped me grow.
Try These 3 Things to Fail Forward:
Change the word "fail."Instead of "I failed," say, "What can I learn from this?"
Normalize - Mistakes are normal.Everyone makes them. It means you're trying!
Be proud of trying. Trying something new takes courage. And that's awesome.
Remember This:
You don't have to get it right the first time. You get to keep learning and growing.
When you fall down, it's not the end - it's a step on the way forward.
So next time you feel like you "messed up,"ask yourself: "How can I grow from this?"
Because forward is still forward -even if you trip a little.
