Who Am I – Awareness

Who Am I – Awareness

Have you ever reflected on your life and wished you could have made different decisions? Maybe you find yourself lost, unrecognizable, stuck in roles that seem to define you more than your true self. You know yourself well as a mom, dad, wife, or husband, but what about who you are outside of those roles? Do you even recognize that person anymore?

What If You Could Show Up 100% for Your Loved Ones Without Losing Yourself?

Knowing who you are and living intentionally isn't just a goal—it's a superpower. It empowers you to show up fully for your loved ones while staying true to yourself. As a life coach, one of my main missions is to help you find that awareness. I want to guide you to show up for the most important person in your life: YOU!

The Story of How Awareness Saved My Life

Let me take you back to a time when I almost lost myself completely. I remember when being a mom saved my life. I was in a dark place—lost, suicidal, unsure of where I wanted to go or how to get there. It was during my freshman English class that I was first asked to think about my future. The prompt was simple: "Where do you see yourself in five years?" But that simple question changed everything for me.

Awareness is the foundation of living life!

I wrote about owning a house before my daughter turned five and eventually living in my dream home. At the time, I had no money, terrible credit, and no knowledge of the home-buying process. But something magical happens when you gain awareness of what you want and begin to live with intention.

I started telling everyone about my dream and why it mattered to me. The right people came into my life and helped me break down the steps I needed to take. It started with awareness—acknowledging what I wanted and understanding what I lacked. Then, I began to live with intention: repairing my credit, saving for a deposit, taking homeownership classes, and searching for a house. Despite the challenges, I stuck to the plan.

In 2004, I purchased my first home. In 2017, I began renting it out, and in 2021, I bought my dream house.

I Went From Suicidal Without a Plan to Writing a Vision That Changed My Life

Everything started with one crucial step: becoming aware that I wasn't okay mentally. That awareness was the catalyst for change. It pushed me to seek help and to show up for my daughter with a renewed sense of purpose. I realized that I couldn't live my life in a way that aligned with my true self without addressing my mental and emotional well-being first.

Takeaways from My Journey

  • Awareness Is Key: When I lacked awareness of who I was and what I wanted, I wasn't truly living. Awareness gives you clarity and direction. It is the foundation of everything.

  • Know Your Starting Point: To know where you're going, you must first know where you are. Be honest with yourself about your current situation, and acknowledge what needs to change.

  • Seek Help When Needed: Success doesn’t happen in isolation. I had to be honest with myself and admit that I needed help. Reaching out to the right people made all the difference.

  • Live with Intention: You have to have a plan for your life. If you don’t live with intention, your life will start to control you instead of the other way around.

  • Choose to Be Proactive: In life, you can either be proactive or reactive. You get to decide which path to take. Choose to be in control of your journey.

  • Embrace Your Future, Not Your Past: You can either be a victim to your past or a victor in your future. The choice is yours. Decide to let go of what no longer serves you and move forward with purpose.

Simple Steps to Help You SHINE:

  • Speak Positively to Yourself: The way you talk to yourself shapes your reality. Be kind, encouraging, and optimistic.

  • Honor YOU: Prioritize yourself. You are the most important person in your life, and you deserve to be treated with love and respect.

  • Intentionality Is a Must: Live with purpose. Make decisions that align with your values and goals.

  • Never Give Up on YOU: No matter how tough things get, don’t lose faith in yourself. Keep pushing forward.

  • Embark on Your Dreams: Don’t wait for the perfect moment. Start pursuing your dreams today, and watch how your life transforms.

You have the power within you to reclaim your life, to show up fully for yourself and your loved ones, and to live with purpose and intention. Take that first step today—your future self will thank you.
